Can you guys think of all the different west coast events we should try and not schedule a conflict with?

Is there any way we can do this so far in advance?

I know PCA doesnt have anything but as Rob said its calendar year to calendar year.

I know Werks Reunion is Aug 19th this year, is it typically about that time?

Any Socal events? Im not big into other yearly events so my knowledge of them is semi limited.

Good idea to watch for the other events Andrew. In 2010, Paul Sayegh wanted to move the event to the Fall which pissed off the Red Rocks guys. McMark and I went to their event to try and get their butt-hurt whining to stop. Red Rocks is typically Fall, we also need to consider Route 66. Other than that, Spring is generally when we have done it. Ranging from late April to early June.

Putting this here so I dont loose it.

There is a special events guideline in this link with contacts to parks and recreation as well as the police that I want to save for later once we have a date squared away.

In May the pass may be closed due to snow; sometimes in to June. If the pass is closed, we will need to drive to Reno and then south to get there which is a PITA.

What about July?

Im thinking late July through August. To early and yes we'll have the issue your describing. July is going to be hard to find a time that is not going to be expensive. Lots of tourism in July. If we go as late as September then we have less of an issue with weather, but other events could conflict.

OK

We have two date ranges

June 1,2,3,4

and

Sept 7,8,9,10

Is anyone aware of any conflicting events that run in that timeframe?

Personally I am thinking of the September date. It seems to be a bit warmer, averaging coldest of 42 and warmest of 74 on average.

Possibly RRC. And they get very butt hurt if you step on their event...

Yup. RRC is that weekend and they don't even want anyone CLOSE to their dates.

Thats RRC 2016 for September.

2017 hasnt been planned... If we post our date now the 914 community should steer clear of it.

Thoughts?

Do a search for WCR2010. Paul Sayegh wanted to do WCR in September. It very quickly went to shit. I took the brunt of it because I was the spokesperson. Paul quit the planning over it. They consider September on this side of the country To be theirs. That would get ugly quickly.

I've been thinking about this for a bit. Still not sure.

Tempted to talk to the host for RRC, I honestly cant see how more than 2 or 3 people that would go to RRC would go to the WCR.

I mean if we were to go June we'll have to announce now so people can reserve their hotel rooms and we'll have to start the detailed planning shortly. If your going to host some kind of "rally" then we'll need to get that figured out as well.

You'd be very surprised... Lots of SoCal guys go to Red Rocks. The late Slits never missed one. They got super pissy about Paul Sayegh wanting to do just what you're saying. To the point of name calling. Paul actually resigned the event over it.

I think you have to consider June. These things are formulaic. They can be put together pretty quickly.

Ok, lots of things going on with me but I am going to go ahead and announce the date and hotel information at lunch today and get an admin to color code it.

June it is.

First come, first served. I don't quite get the RRC kerfuffle. Not that much of a crossover/conflict. If not attending both it's one or the other. At this point, you guys might consider some area less fire prone (if one exists).
