hey, I didn't know I was going till a few hours before...it's been like herding cats the past couple years getting together. Bear Mountain is pretty cool. we should consider it in the future..but meet up on the palisades rest stop and drive in together, more impressive parking together....dam, there I go again complicating it... nice drive thru there- I drove thru there the day I drove the 914 up from SC to tangerine last month! I plan going back thru there on my way home too. when I got off the Palisaides parkway and jumped on the highway that runs up to Bear mountain I found a great NY deli to get breakfast . their cheese Danish lasted my 2 days!! - bagals were awesome but the coffee left a lot t o be desired....
it was just off the Pallisaides parkway and highway 202 at West Ivy road I think it was. Have to find that on the way back- - found it - Mountain View Deli Pamona! |

here's that twisty I mentioned. Rt 202/6 east of Bear Mountain Bridge. The road is cut into the edge of bear mountain about 500 feet above the hudson river. Click on this link and take a street-view drive. Sweet.

If you head up 9W toward 218, you will find some nice roads too. |

so, looks like we got Rory, Len, Mort and myself so far.
we could meet right as you get off at exit 19, park on the shoulder 100 yards or so once on "Seven Lakes Drive". So those getting off the Pkwy can see you. ...then we could enter the place together, parking together obviously the mission. meet there around 6:15ish??? suggestions?? |
