Have the Opportunity to purchase a GEX built 2.0 liter out of a 74 914 that was involved if a front end wreck.....may buy the complete car depending on $$$$.
The engine has a little over 2,000 miles on it and has the 2100 cc, Power Master upgrade - Pick up the additional HP to climb hills, Electronic Balancing - For longer life and a smooth running engine. Counterweighted Crankshaft - Allows engine to run smoother and ultimately to last longer. alt Maxi Oil Pump - Closer tolerances than a stock pump, provides added volume and increased oil pressure during low speed operation. high output alternator and the Compufire Ignition. The engine starts and runs fine, but no longer has any warranty on it. trying to come up with a value, because the guys wife is tried of looking at it and he just wants it gone. (think its the cause of many arguments) I haven't heard anything good or bad regarding GEX and their quality. Anyone have info on GEX? Thanks |

Just got home from work.....some of us still have to unlike all you old retired bastards out there.
The seller with the wreck and all of the EFI parts, Fuchs and Saratoga top just called and we settled on 1050.00 and a case of Grainbelt Beer. Just so you all Know I will be pulling all the goodies, Carbs, Manifolds and electronics off of the GEX and give the rest of it to a buddy of mine who wants to turn it into a gas powered air compressor. Had never heard of it before but he converts it to run on two of the four cylinders while the remaining two do the air compressing. He already had one that he made from a old V dub engine, its mounted on a home built trailer with a 500 gallon tank. I had never seen it before. He fired it up for me last night and boy does it make the air......It will run two 90 pound jackhammers full bore and not run out of air. Maybe I found a new use for all the GEX engines out there but then again maybe not. Buy the way.....Nice to see you back Cabinetmaker, thought you were lost forever bud. Oh and "I've got blistas on my fingas!" Pay attention Kevin! |
