I have been looking for a decent project car for a while. Anyway, I heard about this place here in town that "works on them thar porsches". So I called the guy and sure enough, he has a 72 that he bought for a customer, but the customer backed out. Turns out they build and maintain Porsche race cars for customers in SCCA, etc. He tells me to come on down and look at it. Soooo, I left work early and went to the shop where the car is. Lots of porsche pics on the walls, hmmm. Takes me out to the shop and OMFG!!! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/ohmy.gif) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/drooley.gif) About a dozen 911/356/914 race cars (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/ohmy.gif)
The car is nice, and I think I'm going to nab it. Then the guy takes me on a tour of his shop. He must have noticed my interest since my jaw was dragging.. Upstairs this guy had like, as best as I can describe, OOODLES of parts. Couple of 914/6 engines, webers galore, cases, cranks, rods, STACKS of Fuchs! I seriously had wood. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/unsure.gif) This guy had a "pile" of 911 front ends. SC, etc. I think I found my source of parts. The guy was cool as hell. Wish I wouldn't have left mycamera phone in the car. He might have thought I was wierd or something (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/tongue.gif) Oh yeah! and the race cars... Saw a BEAUTIFUL blue 914/6. Flared, caged, and perfect in every sense of the word. I "think" I saw an RSR, but not sure. I didn't want to get too nosey, but it certainly "looked" like one. God damn I am still shaking, it was cool as hell. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif):D:D And to think I have lived here for a long time and never even knew this place was here!!! I didnt see a blue 911. I saw a white one with blue trim that sounded MEAN AS HELL! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif) Also saw an orange one that they were building up. He seemed like a really cool guy, was plenty talkative and very friendly. |

I just wanted to bump this up. Going to get my car this afternoon. And I have the digicam all charged up, so will get lots of pics for you guys. Be prepared to drool. The racecars this place has is insane! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif)
My source for a trailer dried up, so I checked on renting one from U-suck, they are retards. A friend of a friend of a friend owns a tow company, so he made me a deal to flatbed it home for a VERY reasonable rate. Score again! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif) Ok, i better go for now. Need to run out and dust off the jackstands... |

(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/agree.gif) They wouldn't rent me a autotransport (aka trailer) because my car was a "porch (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/screwy.gif) " Called teh next place and told them it was a 1970 VW 914 and they had no problem with it (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/confused24.gif) Good luck with the car, can't wait to see you pictures. |
