I have a cracked dashboard, but cannot fathom spending several hundred dollars on a new one or used one without cracks. I have seen the black plastic covers similar to the one shown below:

Anybody used one of these before? Do they look good, or are they crap? I have a nice 914 that I've recently added a center console to and am wondering if this will help renew the look of my dash without looking cheap. Thanks! Steve

Nice to see yet another Va guy (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/clap.gif) Yes they help and look pretty good. See if you can verify that it is a coverlay brand. There are some cheap brands that don't fit well. Most guys don't glue them down as the instructions say, because they are a pain to remove later if you wish. I parted out a 924 a few years ago and started to remove the dash because it was perfect (name your price for a perfect 924/944 dash) half way into it I took a closer look (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/headbang.gif) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/headbang.gif) COVERLAY! A couple of us Va. guys have disscussed a gettogether sometime this year but got nowhere. Youin? I would prefer fall so MAYBE I can have a car to run in ! I bought a coverlay from Tweeks(mid-america)last year. It is a decent piece. Fits nice,no sharp edges, pretty snug. The grain is more realistic than I thought it would be. My original dash cracked above the speedo binnacle and the radio area. I have a brand new dash from a parted out car in storage, just not ready to tear apart the interior yet. Cheers,Dion
