after seeing the car on the dyno there is no doubt that it has a strong motor, and it would be a shame to break it down. how often do you add oil and how much? have you considered doing a compression/leakdown test dave?
kevin edit: after rereading, geoff is following him from lunch. i presume crazy eric's in belfair. you don't think the smoke had anything to do with those two racing back to the airport do you? |

I would have had him other than I had no effin idea where I was going!
I was just telling him about the smoke because he said the motor was recently rebuilt, what maybe 50k and 10 years ago, Dave?? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) No Kevin it does run pretty strong, no reason to tear it down right away. And you are right, we ate at Crazy Eric's. I had a killer Shake and fries, skipped the burgers as they looked too damn greasy for my old blood. Geoff |

Geoff,
By the way, I know you would kick my butt, for now. Takes grease to make a good burger. Shakes are the best, hand dipped hard ice cream. Great place even a picture of a big old 59 Caddy. As far as my engine goes it was rebuit in 93. It's got less than 20K miles on it so it is relatively recent. It's coming out this winter anyway. If its the valve guides I'll probably get the heads done then. I really would like to do another engine in 2004 if this one will last me until then. I had hoped to build something like a 2270 with a more aggressive cam, freer flowing heads, lightened flywheel yadda, yadda, yadda. Gonna have to treat the wife real good. I'll run some test and hope for the best. Kevin, I'm gonna start testin this out Wednesday afternoon. Compression, then again with some oil, and vacuum. Hope to have some figures Thursday morning. Dave |
