HOLY DAMN SHIT!!!!

okay, so it still stumbles a bit off idle, but above 3k....

it makes piss-your-pants type power

2nd and 3rd gear are like freaking warp drive kicked in.

until 5th gear, this car is everybit as fast as the last 911SC i drove. it's actually a little scary, seriously.

Trekkor: you've still got a bit more grunt, but i would be nipping at your heals in a straight line.

be careful...if running lean and/or too far advanced, you can fry that new motor of yours (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/headbang.gif)

2056, Elgin cam, KB pistons, stock 2 liter bottom end, balanced, stock valve sizes, euro race header, 44 IDFs, all balanced shit inside, 9.6:1 compression, currently running premium w/ a little octane boost to be safe.

the car is a 75 w/ fiberglass bumpers and other light-bits, set up for AX where i will kick some ass this year.

Congrats! Sounds like it turned out well! Are you going up to Santa Rosa for AX this weekend?

I'm still debating whether I will go the 2056 route or go even bigger, 2270 sounds fun. Trying to find a good affordable local engine builder currently. I'm selling the Boxster later this year to fund my 914 project.

In the mean time just know you, Trekkor, Randall ...and ...and will have a 1795cc 90 hp 914 with a big 270 lb dude trying to chase your times down at most of the local AX this year. I'll just have to pray at the momtenum course shrine. Maybe the course design gods will give me pity this year. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif)

BTW I thought only lightweight cars with big V8's qualified for piss-your-pants fast. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/happy11.gif)

i went 2056 out of sheer budget constraints, but bumped up the compression as much as i figured the cam could take in order to get that last bit of power. i can imagine how the 2270's extra stroke would really bring out the torque.

that said, a 2270 puts you in a higher class than Fm.

I DO plan on being up in Santa Rosa this weekend for both days. trying to put some miles on the thing before hand.... and lots more tuning. i figure there's another 5hp in there just in tuning. hope the engine doesn't scatter in the meanwhile!

btw, grant, build it yourself -- even if you don't have the time. you will be amazed what you'll learn, and it's a great sense of accomplishment. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/mueba.gif)

edit: btw, my old engine was a D-jet'd 2056 w/ the same header. this thing makes nearly half again the power, i shit you not.

randal knows that i'm already nipping at his heels. i'll be there soon enough... at this point, though, i just want the poor guy to get his car finished. he was telling me about both his Stage I and Stage II engine plans. sounds VERY promising, jake. it'll be good to have one of your engines out here in the norcal AX scene. randal will be a good representative, he'll put it to good use.

ben1440, definitely just show up, hang out, and watch.

Go Nathan (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/clap.gif)

Santa Rosa is really fun. You should see the top of third if they design it with a long straight.

Come early. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/chatsmiley.gif)

I'll try to make it by the airport to say hello, though time will be tight this weekend as my mom's b-day is on Saturday and my pop's b-day is on Sunday.

I might not know who you are, so say hello to the guy who pulls up in an old Fiat sedan. The 914 is on jack stands, but will be there in spirit. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smile.gif)

I'm looking forward to having Randal as my pilot in the Norcal zone...

But this year he will just be runnning a kit engine that he will have assembled locally...

06 will be the year of the beast in Norcal...

They may have to make a new class for this animal!
