Check it out kids... Dead-battery, 1.8 - FI, Rust in places it shouldn't, and none in places it should. Interior is FRIGGIN MINT.
http://www.hardman.org/pix/cheap_74/cheap_74.html Guy told me I could have it for $900. The guy I did the PPI for is going to let me know if he want's it or not later today. Thoughts? |

Good parts car to cut up and save the goodies off of. Nice dash, seats, uncut door panels, bumpers etc.

That's what I was thinking too...If it ran, I'd drive the shit out of it for 3-4 weeks till I finish mine, then part it!
I put the key to it in my pocket by accadent so I have to run it back to him later today. I think I'll take jumpers and see if she starts. Been sitting for a year...Hmmm.... |

Doug,
If that is close jump on it. BUT...I do not believe it is worth 900.00. I pay 400-600 clams for a car like that. Reason? Well no fuchs, 1.8 engine, etc. Offer them less dude. |

You bought another 914? Group: Benefactors Posts: 7,620 Joined: 27-June 03 From: Portage, IN Member No.: 865 Region Association: None |
Parts car with a lot of good inside stuff, hell the dash alone is worth $400 if it looks as good as it does in the picture. I have also found the VW crowd likes the "sport" steel rims found on 74 and later 914's. Sold a set I had for $250 to a local guy. I say offer $500 cash when you show up and see what happens. How are the longs? Doors are easy to replace. Longs aren't.
Why does it have two different paint pobs? Major accident? If it was in my town I'd buy it (for $800 cash) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif) If you have the time and wherewithall to part it out you'll easily double your money. Trust me. |

If I can get it started, I'll grab it for $750...see what happens. The interior is what I'd be looking at...REAL sweet. Original Radio/speakers/everything else. 84K on that motor really isn't bad.
We'll see...maybe I'll get it, throw a maco-job on it, and make it my beater/experiment car. |

If the longs and the hell hole are shot then I would use that to get the car down to the $500.00 range. Part it out. You'll triple your money.

Well - did you get it started? How did it run? I'm the guy who found the car, but do not think I am willing to pay $900 (particularly if you could not get it started) and the guys seems unwilling to budge - $600 is a different story. Maybe in another couple weeks he'll be more flexible?

Vance: Nope...didn't make it over there. Did you offer him 600?
I try this simple trick with people if they are REAL clueless... Me: Maam...this is a Volkswagen...see, right here on the VIN tag it says so. Manufactured by Volkswagen. If the VIN started with "914" you have yourself a REAL Porsche...this is one of the fake ones...I'll give you $100 to take this embarrassment away. HAsn't WORKED yet...but it will...some day... |

I did offer him $600 and he said he is getting a lot of interest now that it is Spring and will hold on to it? I'll keep bugging him every couple weeks, and maybe he will give? Now if you get it started and it runs flawlessly, $800 maybe an option. Let me know if you head back out next week and maybe I can meet you out there and give you a hand trying to start it?

Next week, offer $500, then offer $400...
I'm going to call him today and tell him I still have the key to it. Wonder if he realizes? I'll tell him he should take any offer over $500 and run from the thing... His "lots of intrest" was you, and you calling me to do a PPI. (I went in all stealth-like as an interested buyer!) The For-Sale sign was in 1000 pieces on the passenger seat. There is NO WAY that he's getting a bunch of intrest. Nice enough guy....but.... |
