so, im in class today, in a review session for my physics test tomorrow, and i look at my watch and it says 5:30, and i have work at 6, so i run out of class and start driving home, and it takes me 25 minutes to get home. (mind you all i had to eat today was breakfast at 7 am, because i have all my classes in a row) so i go straight to the gas station where i work the night shift, and i walk in to pick up my bank for the night, and they tell me that it isnt going to work out because i cant work on every holiday, and on wednesdays during the day, because im at school.......and thats it!
they got some imported person to slave for them, its so retarted, they could at least have been courteous and gave me a week, no, they tell me after i rush home and skipped half of class and am exhausted..... this sucks, now i have to borrow money from my parents to get the 914 in the body shop, and i JUST finished paying off my dad from a winter class....so i wont have a job for another 3 weeks, so the semester can end... so yeah...thats my rant |

(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/agree.gif) Sounds like an example of what type of business you don't want to work for. Can you find a job that values going to school and is willing to work around it? What is your major? Are there any college level jobs available that are related to it? Whatever you do don't give up school. Good luck! |

Yep, check with UPS. They were always setting up hiring booths at the school I attended looking for students. Good benefits too!

You should change your major to Civil Engineering like Aaron Cox. I here it's really really easy and nobody knows what a Civil Engineer does anyway.

Civil engineers design streets, sewers, and storm drains (among other things). When the addition floods, they have already been paid and are working for another firm. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif) Kinda like being a T.V. weather man. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/laugh.gif)

I'll get behind that comment 100%!!! DO NOT drop school. That is a very important thing right now and I'm sure your parents would agree. I also agree that if the company would just drop you like that, then they are definitely not worth it...F#$% em!!! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/flipa.gif) |

that sucks, but it might be a blessing in disguise, in so far as other places are likely to be more flexible.
sounds like you've got your head screwed on straight with school and all. remember, the better you do in school and the sooner you're done; the more money you'll make, sooner. (take it from a dude who's been in school 7 years straight... shitt....... at least 2 more to go....) |

I agree UPS was my first job out of HS. Its tough work, but motivated people can do very well in the first part of their career with UPS. They put me through college and paid for most of my graduate school work too. I worked there until I was vested in the retirement plan at age 28 and left for better opportunities. But make sure you get out after a while they have a pretty rigid culture that gets old very quickly. |
