I'm sure that the Porsche engineers from the 1960's who designed the 914 would be smiling as well.

They're Lawnmowers! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Like I was thinking that day, call it what you want, but I was keeping pace with all the pricey newer Porsches, with a Porsche I paid $1500 for, so I got the last laugh.

Tell her you could have bought 10 914s for less than she spent and she'd be in 11th place.

The real freedom in driving a car you have no money in is you can go balls out. The club gave me the un-official Steve McQueen award because they said I was driving like a car chase in the movies, a squeals and rubber. One guy said I was even drifting, whatever that is. But I bet I had more fun then the guys out there wiping down the tires on their Boxsters!

This group is pretty laid back, people had their kids, their dogs, etc. I enjoy the autocross.

914's in autocross are addicting. There's always something you can add to humble others, even with a 2.0.

I really need to get more into Autocrossing. I've enjoyed it each time I've done it, though I am HORRIBLE at it. I guess if I showed up more then once every other year....

When I finished a number of guys came up to talk about the car. They all said the same thing, "I bet you had the most fun today."
So while they were all talking about their $400 suspension bushings, I was up on two wheels!

Today was great, pushed the car as hard as it would go because I got stuck on the same time the last three runs. But wow, what a day, perfect weather and I was turning some of the same times as the 911's, but I bet I had more fun!

I thought about bringing the Benzo, but it might be too big for a tight track.

A 95-00 W202 Mercedes C class is hardly a large car. And, if those wheels came on the car when new ( RE the rest of the stuff is there ) , it should have some zip. . . .

One of the local national Porsche clubs will let anything run regardless of membership, you are just lumped in a X class.

Some lady kept calling it a "washing machine". I didn't point out my Maytag was doing better times than her CaymanR....

But people like this are the ones that pay your bills so I would not be too willing to let it be known you are poking fun at them.

?? I don't build race cars just to circulate around the track. If one isn't willing to accept that the car can be written off in the first corner of the first lap of it's first race, it should stay in the shop.

Show up more and just go play!

Autocrossers make brutal road racers right from the start but the other way round usually isn't true.

Didn't take the 914 yesterday but the 993 was fun, but not really as much fun as the 914. The narrow body really gives you an advantage over the big 911's in some of the cone gates. I took the 993 the last two times, I think it's time to get the 914 back out.

I took my 914 to the autocross yesterday. Had a lot of fun, and gave rides on all my runs. Best part was that I didn't come in last!

I'll post some pics once the photographer puts them up.

Of my porsches I have to say the 914 is best suited for autocross. It has more power than the 356 and is tighter in the corners, but the narrow body is also a distinct advantage over the 993. I think the best suited Porsche for the autocross is probably the Cayman, they tend to always do well. But in my stable the 914 is by far the funnest. My last outing with it one of the old guy's commented that I should get the Steve McQueen award, if nothing else, because the 914 was so dramatic in the driving.
