(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/mueba.gif) Well I finally got my 914 and brought her home today.

(IMG:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v41/mikelsr/914/914-packed-n-ready-2.jpg)

She was up in the cold country for the past 16 years (MN) and deserved to be taked to a warmer climate (ok just a bit). I heard her calling my name and I finally found her and freed her from the confines of a garage where she had been kept for the past 15 years with only getting out a few times a year.

I know that all Porsches are related and Lazuli (my '01 Boxster) was lonely and I just had to get her another sister since I had taken her other one away 1 1/2 years ago.

(IMG:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v41/mikelsr/914/924.jpg)

So today Lazuli was introduced to her older sister (who is nameless so far)

(IMG:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v41/mikelsr/914/Buds-2.jpg)

The 914 has been taken good care of but needs some new shoes (which I will take care of), the odom doesn't work, and neither does the fuel tank. The left head light likes to bounce up and down, while the right one likes to look down at the road right in front it.

There is a noise coming from the engine compartment when I accelerate, a high pitch whine. The place I had it inspected at didn't mention it so I wonder if it is normal. Maybe I will record it and save it if someone want to hear it. My first thought was the alternator but I haven't started researching it.

The original owers where fanstatic to work with. After we finalized the deal we broke open some wine and have a few classes. Then we (a friend came with me) packed her up and headed back to IL.

(IMG:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v41/mikelsr/914/914_in_MN_w_old_owners-5.jpg)

So now is the time to start fixing her up so everything works and then hit the auto-cross circuit. BTW what is the best way to setup the suspension for auto-xing a 914.

Thanks,
Mike

What a happy family they make! Boxters are more like 914's than might be expected by most drivers, even Porsche drivers unless they have driven both....
Now comes the dissasembly!

Looks like a good starting point to me. I have always liked the green with tan interior combo. As I get older the black interiors have become "bland". It appears to me that the car will be in good hands. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/clap.gif)

Well, ya gotta admit the flowers look kinda suspect.

Brad, you've gotten a little older lately? Can't imagine why. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/beer.gif)

...what is the best way to setup the suspension for auto-xing a 914.

restore all the running gear to original specs, flush the brake fluid & replace the flex lines, replace the fuel hoses and vacuum lines, do the standard tune-up stuff and adjust the valves, set the ride height to 3/4" down from the nominal factory height and get a good alignment, replace the dampers, put on new tires, and learn to drive that package. MAYBE add a front antiroll bar if it doesn't have one. you'll do great in the stock classes.
