Pair of nice condition Weber 40IDA3C carbs. $2500 for the pair. I believe this is a
really good deal for carbs in this condition.

These look like they were rebuilt and not used much or at all, HOWEVER, I have had
them sitting on a shelf in my study for 5 years since I got them and never tried
running them. I would consider them cores in need of new gaskets, o-rings, etc.
Throttle shafts are tight and move easily. Includes cool screen filters. I would
replace the short fuel lines as well.

Several folks have PM-ed me about how these are setup. I checked the various jet and
other sizes and this is what I found:

Idle jets: marked 55 but I measured them as 60 (maybe reamed out sometime)
Mains: 145
Air Correction: 180
Emulsion Tubes: F3
Pump Jets: 50
Auxiliary Venturis: 4.5
Chokes: 34mm

These carbs are pristine inside. They smell just slightly of gas or oil but I doubt they
were used very much. They are certainly have not just been pulled from 20 years under the hood:

I should probably be asking more for these. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

If you are interested in them then talk to your engine builder about whether they
would work for your application. I am no guru when it comes to /6 engines. All
the jets and whatnot can be changed out in 60 minutes and you should expect to need
to do some fine tuning based on your particular engine.

Maybe some of the gurus on the board could comment on what engine sizes these
could work for.

John, Here is some info that might help. Your set does look very nice. For anyone looking to purchase I can tell you that John is a great guy who is straight forward who has a passion for anything Porsche and will be excellent to deal with. I know there are many other folks on this board who would say the same thing about him. Good luck with the sale.

Weber Carbs
Porsche used the IDA type carburetors on production 911's and 914/6's; the following is a listing of those used by type and model application.

40IDT3C and 40IDT3C1
•1968 911T (non-USA)
40IDA3C and 40IDA3C1
•1966 - 67 911
•1968 911L (non-USA)
40IDS3C and 40IDS3C1
•1967 - 68 911S
40IDAP3C and 40IDAP3C1
•1968 911 & 911L (USA)
40IDTP3C and 40IDTP3C1
•1969 911T
•1971 only 2.2 911T (non-USA)
40IDTP13C and 40IDTP13C1
•1970 - 71 914/6
Although Webers were not used on production Porsches after 1971 they were available as an after-market replacement for mechanical fuel injected, Solex and Zenith carbureted engines. These were frequently provided for years from Italy Spain or from the USA in later years. All the after-market Webers (not sold through Porsche service centers) were identified as type 40 IDA 3C or 3C1 carburetors and used date codes in lieu of serial numbers used for production Porsches.

Additionally my 914/6 engine has 40IDA3C1's out of a 66-67 911. They are from Italy. The engine was bumped to 2.2 with 84mm P&C's 46 mm intake valves, 40 mm exhaust valves and E cams and runs 140 main jets, 60 idles, 180 air corrections, F26 emulsions 32 mm Venturis and runs pretty well.

Thanks Brian!

I love the way your car sounds with the carb-ed /6 and the M&K exhaust!

I am running the exact same carb as these on my IMSA 2.5 /6 making over 200 HP.

I suspect these are big enough for a 2.7 and maybe more for a street car with larger jets and venturis.

Having opened them up, I think these could be good to go after spraying carb cleaner and compressed air through them. I would change out the short rubber fuel lines too. There is no sign of ethanol corrosion, dirt or gunk in them.

Stupid ebay buyer returned the carbs without even opening the box!

Claimed he had to replace his compressor and needed the money.

Never said what compressor on what.

Wasted $90 shipping for me and $75 shipping for him.

What a douche.
