Posted to the bird 911 forum that I have a 6 cyl. case with numbers pictured.

One case half has 2 numbers on it. It looks as though one of the numbers is not genuine but the other is 914.

What do you guys think?

Look at the horizontal number near the flywheel, next to the oil pressure switch you'll find 901/ 38
If so, the engine IS a 914 6
The numbers on the vertical fan support are bogus.
This is easily verified.
If you don't see a type number ( in this format; 911/38.... is a 911 RS engine) on the right engine case under the fan saddle it is not a 911 engine.
Someone wanted this to appear to be 911 engine.
They probably thought it was a replacement block because it had no numbers there.
