'79 SC case, based on the engine number, right?
Looks like Japan market, I think. Just guessing that's what the (J) in the engine serial number decoder means. |

Here is what I see the *6400653* top engine case is a 1970 914-6 Case.
The bottom case is 6190446 this shows to be a 1969 911T Coupe case. I also do not see where you are finding the "J" in the number? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) Vysoc (IMG:style_emoticons/default/flag.gif) |

If you look at the link in JmuRiz's post it shows all the engine numbers based on the market they were made for?
I don't think the 619**** is genuine. I don't plan on using it as its just a case but if it was a /6 case it would make a good conversation piece. |

Here is a pic of the number on my 69 911T case for comparison. Looks very similar to yours. But i do not have another number near the breather on top.

On second look I see that the font size for your 911T number is huge compared to the one on my case.

If the half numbers don't match the answer is some one made the case out of two halfs.

Those are the numbers I'm talking about, different places but T1 and 4, plus the /6 has them.
If they don't match they are the halves from two different engine cases. |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) the side numbers cast into the lower half of the cases is prob..3R and 2R most likely its a -6 engine someone thought they should stamp the ex 911 engine number into it. |

Case halves are same number stamped in stud boss.
Part numbers are 901.101.102.2R and 3R. Interesting, anyone looking for the original case for their 914-6? s/n 6400653 |

Look at the horizontal number near the flywheel, next to the oil pressure switch you'll find 901/ 38
If so, the engine IS a 914 6 The numbers on the vertical fan support are bogus. This is easily verified. If you don't see a type number ( in this format; 911/38.... is a 911 RS engine) on the right engine case under the fan saddle it is not a 911 engine. Someone wanted this to appear to be 911 engine. They probably thought it was a replacement block because it had no numbers there. |
