POLL CLOSED! CONGRATS MARVS3.6
Welcome to the Nov/Dec 2016 COTM (Car Of The Month) poll. Please vote for for your favorite car! Each contestant will be encouraged to post one picture as well as a description of your car. I will put that in the top post for the members to vote. If no information or picture is provided I will put their name and find a picture of their car. Each contestant is then encouraged to post as much as they want within this thread to support their car, or they may link to their own threads. Voters... Remember this is not a popularity contest, this is about which car is your favorite build, which means the most to you, which you find the most impressive, which you simply like the most. The winner will then be required to provide 3 pictures of their car that will be used on the home page and a 25 word description of their car, and their car will be on display on the home page until the next car is appointed! This is due by one week after poll closes to avoid delays and allow Andy enough time to edit the home page for the next month. Hello... 914 / Formula 1 / and those interested in a bit of history.
Here is a brief story on the Pacecar. September 23, 1973, Canadian Grand Prix saw the use of a Safety Car in Formula 1 for the first time. The race ended up as one of the most controversial in Formula 1 history. A wet race with an accident brought the car on track. Driver Eppie Wietzes, picked up the wrong car! After 5 laps, the Safety Car came in and the race finished in confusion. After many hours a winner was declared. With results still questioned today. Official Pace Cars were not used again that season and not reintroduced again for 20 years in 1993. I have scoured the internet and as much historical info I could find to include as much history as I can and really enjoy sharing that. An original Race Program. A Labatts Hat from the era, a period correct fire extinguisher, and radio. It is so fun to have folks talk about the 914, often folks sharing their memories. Talking to F1 fans who enjoy the back story. And to Porsche fans who often look at 914s l bit differently after knowing their significance. If I may as well thank this forum, and so many of the members who have helped me get this on the road with info, help, parts and a real passion. |

I have been a 914-6 fan since I first saw one in 1970. The car literally turned my head around, my first view of the 914 was thru the showroom window. I happened to live around the corner from the famous Vasek Polak Porsche dealership. Peering thru the window and seeing the brand new model 914 sitting on the showroom…. side by side with a 908 race car. The two cars were quite similar, mid engine, wheels way out on the corners. I knew at that point the 914 was a very special car. But 914-6 cars were well beyond affordability at the time. I had lusted over the 914-6 for decades and finally was able to afford one in 2002.
This car here is my dream car and I plan to own her forever. My goal was to build a TTOD Autocross car but it turned into my version of a Porsche factory 914-6 hot rod. It took 8 long years to build. This car is no frills and all business is very loud and lightning quick. There are many subtle detailed touches on the car that are the result of my ADD brain endlessly engineering and re-engineering ideas over and over in my head. From my 914World signature: 1970 914-6 3.6 GT Outlaw 1995-993 3.6 Canadian ROW engine, WebCam RS hydraulic lift camshafts, Cyl heads ports cleaned up and heads milled .010" with a custom multi-angle valve job and new guides, PMS 11 lb lightweight flywheel, fuel injectors blueprinted match flowed by RC engineering, 911Chips Steve Wong custom Motronic chip. 7000 rpm red line. 915 close ratio custom 5 speed w/ G50 LSD Close ratio 1-2-3-4 and 5 od. This original -6 chassis was AutoX champion car in class HI at PCASDR 1999/2000 I purchased the car in Oct 2002. Was already a hotrod when I purchased it. End of this month. Its being changed to Oct/Nov thats why this poll is for Dec/Jan. Andy works on a monthly basis and will not post a new car in the middle of the month, so if its forgotten about or missed then the end of the month has to roll around. This is the way Andy has been doing it the whole time.

Marv's car is cool but I have to go with Wyvern's (Brian's) car for personal reasons. He befriended me at the PCA way before he owned a 914. He's also the VP for our local region and has been a big help getting our ugly ducklings some love...

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) I thought I'd give him a bit of a boost since I know he's a little too engaged in a 'life snag' right now to post pictures of his own car. This is the real deal folks. 1973 Canadian Grand Prix Pace Car. Attached image(s) |

When you see Marv's car in person and read the build thread, you realize this is one special builld. Just stunning every time I see it. 3.6 911 motor from a 993. ...does it get any better than this? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif)
