So I'm heading to work on a Friday and the minute I leave my parking structure I hear something snap and next thing you know I'm stuck in the middle of the street. The car doesn't want to move. So then I shut the car off and then go to the rear of the car to see what happened and I saw this.
Attached Image
I couldn't stop laughing and thinking how could this happen.
The left axle broke off, the starter ripped off the transmission, the reverse light wire ripped apart and the plate that holds the shifter rod going into the tranny broke.

Let me guess. Axle snapped, hit the starter then the shift rod.

That's what I'm thinking. What a crazy coincidence.

Tangerine Racing Shift Linkage
Installing the kit requires the ear on the transmission console to be cut off and you're already there.

You're a pretty good sport to laugh at that. The reverse light ...uhh...thing... that the wires attach to gets so weak over time it just crumbles apart. Just bumping it with a CV can break it. At least you were only going a few miles an hour and no one got hurt (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) .

I think Chris is referring to this linkage update...they have some other stuff you might need too:

If this makes averagejoe laugh, I'd hate to see what makes him cry. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

averagejoe71 when (IF) you replace that broken shift console, I will buy it from you broken as the upgrade to Cris's shift linkage is in my future.

If I could afford it, I would do it now and sell you my console...

Yup it just happened. There were no signals that gave off any suspicion.
