Because I was wrong and it's actually a 2576 (2.6l) engine? How can you tell? Or because it's got carbs on it? Those were for break in. Here's some more pics, and a link to more car/engine info Attached image(s) |

You can't turbo a 914, or at least you couldn't 16 years ago.

A twinturbo might have a small advantage in low rpm response. Short 316 ss headers to a pair of quick spooling turbines. A modern approach, with all the bells and whistles,water/fuel direct injection. Roller tip rockers and lifters,a winder, and some durability built in. When a ember is given more air,it will burn faster, hotter, and will melt a stock head. Heat management is a considerable task,as a seat will pop out without due diligence. A heat sink, strategically inserted into the T4 head to direct the heat to a channel of smaller resistance to conduction. Being cool is also insulating the chamber and ex-port from the heat, modern machined and coated ceramics. The limiting factor is the mass of the head and it's ability to lose heat, without losing strength. More power, more air, more cooling, the circular unconditional loop. Something like this, but with a type 4,auxiliary head cooling via oil/water/glycol. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-HltZrFGJ4U (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Easy to blow the heads off the flat four,a real careful build can keep it together. / |
