to those who said a mid mounted radiator would not work, well it did to the tune of 2100 miles. this includes cruising at 75 + for 3 hours at a time, and a 7100 foot altitude at 85 mph. milage ran at about 30 + mpg at 75 + mph, with temps at 80 degrees outside and radiator temps ran between 170 and 190, depending on hills and speed

And I am taking full credit for your sucess. But for my $1 trans linkage dodad, clearly your entire plan would have failed miserably. I bet your temp would be over 300' AND you'd be getting 2 mpg.

Very nice work bud. You've got size 10 brass balls for taking it on a major road trip right out of the box. Gotta love a guy with confidence in his work. you rule man, now i am confident enough to stuff that eg33 (subaru svx 3.3 liters) in my car, and not worry about setting a front mounted rad.
any pics of the final install? especially the scoop...
and once again, congrats... (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/clap.gif)

I don't remember seeing any. I'd like to though. You have to be able to do a mid mounted radiator for a subie motor.

I saw that setup & rode in his car @ the 05 WCR.
My 1st reaction was ...YOU DROVE FROM MD TO CA IN THAT !!!
The car wasnt the refined sorted conversion you might have expected.
More like the teen that you expected to see on the back of a flatbed. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

But it ran GREAT, as he was giving quick blasts around the reservoir in back of the Hotel. The RAD setup was simple & apparently effective, since Scott then did the return trip.

I'd seriously consider a NA subie conversion if the front trunk could be spared. It has to be possible. 150-70 hp would be perfect for a 914.

I rode in that car, the year we had the ECC at Kerry's house in Kennett Square, PA. First Subie conversion I ever rode in. Haven't really heard from him since then.
