Is it possible to remove the tunnel shift rod from an original 6 with the engine in the car ?

Don't be afraid to destroy the front rod while removing because it is the same as the -4 so there are a bunch of them out there.

But if that's necessary to remove it, it seems unlikely that the side shifter piece can just be slid in. Is the cup on a early tunnel piece removable ? ....roll pin ? |
