I'm thinking the blue tape is to protect the paint on the drive.

I tried regular masking tape and it was an epic fail when it got wet. Then I tried black electrical tape but then it interfered with getting current to the fenders. Hope someone found a better solution. Hmm... maybe strapping tape.

Ha, thats my car. I put the blue tape on to protect it from rock chips when I auto cross. I put in on in April so I forget it's there...
