Transmission input shaft seal...$6 ...down time getting it from home and installing 4 hours
Slipping clutch due to oil bath ....not priceless .
WTF

That was my first question......but no. The seal got trashed during some work. It was badly torn when I got to that point.

I think that any attempt to reinstall the "core" into the case with the seal in place will cause the seal to fail UNLESS you do it with the trans in a vertical orientation as you drop the core in.

If you try to insert the core when the case is horizontal it will fail.
It is just not physically possible to keep the shaft from dragging as it goes through the seal.

Just my opinion.
