Are the 914 gearbox serial numbers sequential by year? Is there a chart somewhere?

Thanks,

Greg

It's more complicated than that. Up into 73, they did have sequential serial numbers. After that, they basically just used the date, or I think the week within the year.

The serial number on my 74 is HA28014. Is the HA an indicator of something?

HA means open diff.
HB is limited slip

On a 914 6 the last 4 sequential numbers on the trans are often about 10 to 50 from the chassis number in the rear trunk.
The casting month/year is cast into the three large pieces on all transmissions.
