I have a molested '76 with a missing aluminium VIN plate in the front compartment and missing the door jamb sticker.

VIN windshield tag and stamping in R front fender are present as is the chassis tag and so I am not up to any funny business with identity theft or identity creation.

I haven't gone down the path of the door jamb sticker in view of the chatter about SoCal Andy and the Eastern Europeans.

I have done an unsuccessful search of the forum but I am sure the info is embedded somewhere.

Would appreciate some help

Thanks

76 has no aluminum tag.. just a chassis number plate on the right bumper support

Ha! Completely missed the '76 part somehow.

You are correct, the '76 does not have the headlight bucket VIN tag ...

From experience I can state that their 914 windshield VIN plate does NOT fit nor does it have the rolled edge on the periphery. Ask me how I know - I tool delivery of one. The number was also stamped facing in the wrong direction. I'd look elsewhere for this plate.

First guess is that your car has the front bulkhead from an older car in it due to collision or rust repair.
Second is that your car was built during changeover using a pre-stamped panel as Karmen was using up parts in the bin for the last model year.

75-76 have shallower headlight buckets to make room for the bumper shocks....I would like to see a pic of the whole side of it..
