My teener has been sitting for awhile and the battery's dead. There is a maintaner already mounted in the engine bay. Will the maintainer bring it back, or does it need a "real" charger? If so, what is the best setting on the big charger to revive it?

I have done it with my Battery Tender, it just takes a while. It charges at about 1.5 amps.

I'd use a big charger, at least 10 amps. It may take a while for the battery to start accepting charge. Watch it to ensure you don't cook it due to a bad cell. I'd remove it from the car to charge this one. If anything goes wrong, you don't want damage to the teener.

Kind of like the "Princess Bride"...it may be "slightly dead" and come back or "really dead".....

Try it....may take a couple of days at 1.5-2.0 amps. A good charger that has dual strength is a good investment. Sears has them for 49 bucks.

I like my battery tender for when the car sits for long periods. I have used it to charge before (when someone borrowed my real charger) it took way too long.
I say get a real charger as well.
