William Grier and I have been assembling Brutus for a few weeks now. We began with a naked tub which had received a nearly 2 year complete body restoration and paint job. We reached a major milestone today......see video. Note: the wheels that are currently on Brutus are borrowed from a 1973 911RS.

I attempted to add the video attachment from my iPad but I guess it didn't work. Obviously I'm out of town but when I return home in a few more weeks, I will download it again from my desktop. Unless In the mean time I can figure out why it didn't load properly.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/popcorn[1].gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/popcorn[1].gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/popcorn[1].gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) Brutus was the first 916 produced and is the only one with a 914-6 VIN. Purchased a few years ago and it's new owners had the body completely restored by Kirk Schueman (same guy that did George's 916 and his M471). William and I are doing the assembly in our own private carpeted room at Auto Atlanta. |

There is a good section on Brutus in the second RS book.
When I was visiting Porsche in late 1974 Brutus was parked in the customer delivery yard. No camera then so no pics. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) I knew it was a different 914 but not how significant it was. I look forward to a good photo essay in due course ! Cheers Dennis. I was at the Peterson vault museum tour today, saw brutus . The tour guide informed the group that there were 4 of them made. Not sure if he meant 916s ? Which we know 11 were made. Is the car currently at Peterson the one described on this thread? It also wore a 2.9 badge. If anyone has more info on what I saw today I’d appreciate it. Thanks

I just came across a great article on this car in the August issue of Panarama (PCA magazine). Sounds like a one of a kind, even amount 916s. It originally belonged to Ferdinand Piech’s daughter, Corina. The article says it had a unique prototype 2.9L putting out 345 hp.
