Because I'm really getting tired of people pulling in front or doing stupid crap. They need to be punished. The stock horn sucks. I'd keep the stock horn but put a secondary button for something LOUD.

Hella SuperTone Horns. One of the loudest horns on the market, and are the same size as the factory horns. They also sound VERY unique, which is enough to get peoples attention as well. |

A pair of these should do the trick:
http://wolo-mfg.com/horns/motorcycle-horns...ig-bad-max.html Or maybe one of these paired with an original "bad boy" 419 (same loudness, higher pitched - the combo of these two together would be something). |

I put the Hella Supertones on my 911 Targa and am considering a set for my 914-6 as well. They are loud and don't sound bad - nice European sound fitting for a Porsche.

I used to run air horns when I was living in Florida many, many years ago to catch the attention of drivers of huge land yachts and keep them from drifting into my lane. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

My town is small and has a large population of older people due to the climate and mostly during the year there is a huge influx of tourist campervans driven by idiots.
Our government is trying to tighten up the rules on tourist drivers because so many people are being killed by them....very sad . I had air horns on my car but they didn't work so I replaced them with Mk3 Golf dual tones...I call them European loud ,not much more I can do but be very mindful on our roads. |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) big FO horns are required more than ever these days due to the idiots on the road. I have a set of Maserati air horns in the basement that used to be on the 911 before it was restored and seriously thinking about putting them back on
The 914-6 will be getting these Bosch Rally horns installed (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif) I pieced a good working set together over I think 3 eBay auctions and not a lot of $ either, just took time |

I put a set of Howard's Horns on my old Harley ( http://www.howardshorns.com/ ). They worked great, and at 130 dB, were almost loud enough for the idiots around here.
Not quite sure of the best place to install them on a 914, but they'd work nicely if you figure that out. |

They worked great, and at 130 dB, were almost loud enough for the idiots around here. No offense to you or any other Marylander, Bill, but you guys DO have some of the worst drivers in your state. And they sometimes escape and make it over into VA to cause havoc on our side of the beltway (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) I think I'm going to get some of those Hella Supertones. At $30 on Amazon prime seems like cheap insurance... |

Hellas are an easy swap....and drive your 914 like you ride a motorcycle.
Never trust anyone else on the road to see you....even in a lime green loud-ass car! |

If I did install a bigger horn like the one's shown, is there any concern about current draw on the original wiring and fuses?

No real issue with the current draw that I've encountered. However, besides a loud horn, always drive as if you're invisible!

I like the Hella trumpets, usually just doubles though. The distinct tone gets attention as well as the decibel level. Lot's of turkeys etc around here, when they are at roads edge or in the road, they barely blink at a "normal" car horn, the trumpets get them moving while your still coming...

I always figured that anybody who is quick on the car horn has been developing the wrong driver skills.
