Can you still fit the wedge style of balljoint in these?
Not as they are made, Maybe they could be modified. First you should know that these will only work with early rotors and calipers. IF they can be converted to use on a later car you also need to change the flex lines and maybe the hard line from the caliper to flex line. I wonder if anyone has converted an early strut to use the wedge pin type ball joint and . The pinch joint early strut like these a have a 10mm hole through the bottom of the strut. The taper pin in 12mm on one end and 8mm on the threaded end. One side would need to be bushed from 12 mm to 8mm. The other side drilled out to 12mm. The slot for the pinch bolt needs to be welded. Porsche abandoned this design after only a couple years of use as it was a flawed design that could wollow out the ball joint hole. (per Cap't Crusty and he knew everything). So maybe you could but you need to decide if it is worth it as opposed to drop spindleing the late strut. If anyone has done this successfully please chime in. I just play with parts. I might put together the parts to see if the hole in the pinch bolt strut lines up with the notch in the wedge pin ball joint. Not trying to rain on the parade but providing info regarding the fitment and issues. Bruce |

I beg to differ on at least one: "these will only work with early rotors and calipers." I have learned that you can exchange rotors and calipers early vs late as long as you change BOTH the rotors and calipers together. I have early spindle/struts with Late rotors and calipers. And my car currently has a wedge pinch bolt ball joint on one side and a regular bolt on the other but both strut/spindles are the same. I know that is not optimal but it is currently working. I intend to buy the new offset balljoints but also want the lowered spindles to give me back some shock travel So I will research some more. Thank you |

Thank you I tried early calipers and rotors on late struts and they did not fit. The late struts have offset ears for the calipers. I would be interested to see how you made it work. Found that out after selling a set of late struts aand his calipers would nt go on the struts. |
