I've been watching that since the first day it was posted on BaT. I couldn't believe how quickly it got to $12,500 and then stalled for a day or two, now at $14K. Should hit $20K if there are a couple of folks that really want it.

For that much I would expect everything to be working on it, no glued on dash cap, and the underside to look a lot cleaner than it does. Looks like someone took a hammer to those heat exchangers. |

Saw this as well, thought it was good but then look closer, pitty they didn't clean the trunks out before they were repainted i hate to see dirt in the paint ! |

I was shocked that this one went for $16K
http://bringatrailer.com/listing/1974-porsche-914-5/ I was also shocked that this green one shot up so quickly. While I'd love for 914 prices to stay down, reality is that they are not. As the Rubber man said on facebook, more 911 owners are in the market for 914s and many of them have the money to throw around. |

$20K is strong money for a 914 in #3 driver condition. I'm very surprised.

Word is out the 914 is collectible now.
Not many air cooled Porsches within reach of a common person any more. Seems he 914 is following suit..."Hello $35K 914-4" |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) You really have to want that car to spend almost $20k. There are a lot of cars in that condition to choose from at that price range. Don't get me wrong, I like the car but am surprised at the result. |

I think the effect of the vintage 911s getting so valuable that the those 911 owners need something to drive around without the fear of a door ding on their precious 911 and still have an air cooled Porsche. Even though those same people looked down on the 914 for decades.
So now their 911s can be garage queens while they throw a "measly" $20K at a driver quality 914 and drive the hell out of it. |
