Looking for what everybody else seems to be looking for - a great 73-76 914 2.0. Am willing to pay up for quality - I understand that the low end of what I am looking for is $20k, and it goes up from there. Can be a restored car or nicely kept original. Original engine with fuel injection is a must. Very limited or no mods preferred. Prefer a silver car or one of the period bright colors - no color changes. Plaid fabric seats (if they came on the car originally) a huge plus. Full documentation, manuals, ownership history, COA also a huge plus.
Thanks. chipbell@verizon.net |

This might be what you're looking for.....an excellent original '76 2.0L in silver metallic with complete documented history, manuals, tool kit, jack, etc......$24K. Some of the details aren't 100% percent correct but it's very nice and should be considered for the price.

As mentioned, it has a few needs, and I was hoping to find something with fewer needs. |

Might I suggest 75 and earlier. '76 and newer cars are required to pass smog in CA. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Just an idea...
Why pay the premium for a 2.0? If everyone else is looking for one, do what the herd isn't and find value somewhere else. Buy a really nice pre-'75 1.7 or 1.8. Take a portion of that premium you saved and build a 1911cc motor. Fit it with the FI or set it up with carbs. Do it right and you're looking at close to 100hp, maybe more. I built mine for around $1500 using a '70 1.7 engine and it's a whole new car. Faster than a stock 2.0, easy, and you have a new motor good for 1000's of miles. Then take the rest of that extra cash and do more up-fixin'. Just saying, but that's what I'd do. And it's what I did. But, if you're a collector, then nevermind. I get it. |

Thanks for this reply. I am also looking for a 914, a solid no rust car. I like working on engines not sheet metal. Wondered how a 1911 compared to a stock 2.0. I was stuck on a 2.0 until I read this.

I figured I would try to find a great 2.0 first, but I know it won't necessarily be easy. |

good luck, chip! I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for. I posted a WTB here as well. It took a while, but the brain trust helped me find my dream car. Lost treasure's viper green sounds promising. If it checks out, I recommend going for it. What you're looking for is becoming rarer and rarer...
