Heat system was removed from my car 20 years ago. I have some of the components but missing a lot of parts. Anyone purchase and install the AA kit? It's pricey but would save me a bunch of time trying to source all the parts myself. Thanks.

You had better call and see if that package is avail for immediate shipping. Check to make sure the kit includes the correct muffler hanger and j tubes. The ones pictured are wrong. Lots of used parts are noted in the fine print. I wonder where new he's are being sourced? $937+shipping each. Wow.

I've drop a note to Bruce. Just reread the fine print and noticed the "used" parts. The way the description is written the term "used" is misleading. Thanks for the input.

I would NOT spend that much at AA. Locate the parts on here.

Is someone still making stainless steel heat exchangers for 914's? I thought SSI (original manufacturer?) discontinued them long ago. But it appears Auto Atlanta, Sierra Madre, and perhaps others are offering them at around $1,700 a pair.

I have all the original components for Dad's car (2.0) but I don't trust the SSIs I have on the motor.

Every model of heat exchanger for a 4 cyl 914 will work on any 914 with a type 4. The grey ones pictured look to be the 73-74 my 2.0 and might be new old nos. they certainly don't look like stainless steel. Why would you bother coating SS? Moral is, what you might be getting is not what's pictured. Some items COULD be on back order. Then you will get a partial kit. Then you will pay additional shipping.

the 1.7 version and the 2.0 version have the same diameter of tubing
they absolutely interchange with no reduction/increase in performance

the only hang-up with interchanging them is matching the muffler and muffler hanger to the style of heat exchanger.

if you have the muffler its a no brainer to interchange them.
