I purchased a new throttle cable from Pelican. Yes it was the cheapest one they had. I figured it's a cable, how bad can it be. The ferrel that is on the end which mates to the firewall fell off when I removed it from the packaging. I installed it anyway. Needles to say, I am greatly disappointed. What a piece of junk. We used to run some really nice cables in the off road cars. Thick didn't bind etc. But the few places that used to carry them are all out of business. Please direct me to a good cable. I don't want to do this 3 times.

karteck off road parts
This is the type of cable I'm used to seeing and using. I will have to make a big modification to the car to run this set up. It would have to run on top of the tunnel. |

I had the same experience here recently. I bought a cheap cable and couldn't get a smooth light pedal feel. I finally bought a terry cable and it was a much better fit and works so smooth.

I've found a stock cable just isn't long enough to reach my Tangerine carb linkage which I had to mount on the rear of the carbs to avoid interference with the engine tin (I have the short carb manifolds). I used motorcycle cable and bike housing & ferrels and it's been working great for the past couple years. Very smooth and nice routing due to the custom length. My only fear is what to do if it breaks on a trip...I really need to make a spare.

The only reason I didn't contact Pelican about the problem was the fact I installed it. I should have known better.. Lesson learned.

I too bought the throttle cable as well as the heater flap control cable from Pelican. Throttle cable broke on installation. The wall thickness of the ferrel attaching to the engine end was way undersize. The threaded end was cut rather than rolled, and the remaining wall thickness too thin. Broke right away. A cut thread provides a stress riser at the thread root. The saga of the heater flap control had the crimped ends too long not allowing them successful routing through the tunnel tubes especially at the right angle bent ends. Called and was told to straighten out of the tube until the ferrel passed the bend. Don't think so !!!!
Worked Tech Service for a major Corp and these cases are ripe with the Seller not attempting due diligence of "Fit for Use". Pelican needs to better assess the products they sell rather than to just sell a part for intended use that on paper makes then $$$$ |

Still wouldn't hurt to contact them,IMO as a parts supplier they are always keen for customer satisfaction more than many others, you could also place feedback on the item. |

I installed one of the Terry cables 6 months ago, no problems so far. Be careful when you install it, easy to get it wrapped around the clutch cable near the front of the tunnel

I called and talked to Cassondra Kelley in customer service at Pelican. She was awesome.
I had a RMA email in about 4 seconds and she assisted me in ordering a terrycable. The GEMO is going back. ------------------------------------ Thank you for contacting us regarding the return of one or more parts associated with your recent order. We have issued a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) Number for you. This number is:xxxxxxxxx and must be written on the outside of the box when you send it to our facility. Please also print out this email and include it with your return. Packages that arrive with confusing or no documentation slow down the processing of your return and will delay the crediting of your account. Please be sure to package the parts very carefully, and to also place them in the original factory packaging in which they arrived. If the parts arrive back damaged at our facility, we unfortunately cannot accept them back for credit. Please do not write anything on the manufacturer's packaging or boxes. Please take extra caution in repacking the box, and you might want to insure the package and send it via a trackable method in case it does become lost. We cannot issue credits for packages that were lost or damaged in transit on the way back to us. Very rarely do packages get lost - the largest problem we face is typically new parts getting scratched or damaged on their way back to us. For everyone's sake, please take special care to prevent any damage or scratching of the parts. Returns are collected, logged, and inspected throughout the week, and refunds are typically processed over the weekend. We will send you an email update when your credit is processed. Please allow 2-3 days for the actual credit to show up on your bank card statement, once your credit is processed. Our receiving address for returns is: Pelican Parts Returns Department 1526 240th Street Harbor City, CA 90710-1311 As always, it's our goal to provide you with the highest level of Customer Service possible. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us at the Pelican Parts Message Center: http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/ContactUs.htm - The Pelican Parts Customer Service Team |

Just a heads up, you can buy the terrycable $10.00 cheaper from terrycable then from Pelican. However, shipping if $5.00 more so its a net $5.00 difference.
