I'm looking for an early heat shield for my 6 conversion. I'd like it to not be rusty or mangled.

Thanks,

Greg

Aside from it being screwed rather than spotted to the underside of the trunk floor
Is there a difference from early to late /4 to /6?

Hi Rich,

No, I don't believe there was any difference in the heat shield for the 4 and the 6. Early versus late (mid 71?), difference was the early was screwed to the trunk floor and the late was spot welded. In all cases, I believe the heat shield itself was the same.

An early heat shield will have the hangers spot welded to it with holes and speed clips on the feet.

Thanks,

Greg

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) You learn sumthin every day.
Because of this topic I started looking at shields of which I have a few evaluate (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif)
This one pictured is OE not cut on & it looks to have come from a late car since the notch
lines up with wire hold tab presumedly for the EGR temp sensor.
On another shield I have off of an adriatic blue car (so 70-72) that notch or tabs isnt present ...so ther IS a differeance in heat sheilds. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/w00t.gif)

Early ones are curved rather than creased into three segments.
Also the mounting flanges each have a hole for the mounting screw.
A clip slips over each flange to receive a phillips screw.
