Can a side shift use the same gears as those that are in the tail shift transmission?

yupp, internals are all the same.

there was, however, a difference in gearing between the /6 and /4 transmissions ...

look throught pet. alot of 911's had different gearing...

side/tailshifters were the same. /4 and /6 differed by a few gears
i got lotsa charts etc if you need gear data

a 914.6 is not a 911...

there was really only one flavor of 914.6 - there were many flavors of 911, with different torque curves, and different requirements.

i wouldn't mind seeing your 915 charts, if you've got 'em ...
