Weekend Rides out out of New Jersey had one at Hershey for sale. 60000 miles and they were asking $14k for it. They have a web site. Good luck.

Wow! Have they really climbed that high in price? I think I paid $5,500 for mine, '87 complete with everything plus headers, Wong chip, extra set of cams (stock cams) and couple other goodies. It ran when I bought it and reportedly had about 40K on it. That was in about 2013 I believe.

prices are climbing. when you call dismantlers and ask about air-cooled engines in stock? they typically say no.

In the bay area the shops are asking somewhere in the 7-10k for 3.0 complete and 9-15k on 3.2 complete.

Yep. I paid $4k for mine. Now that gets you a core in need of a rebuild without induction, fan or exhaust.
A good (stock) rebuilt motor is $12-14 without making every part look pretty.
Rick at weekend rides had a low mileage '95 - 3.6 calling my name but my wallet couldn't take the $15K hit. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)
