So I humbly ask the collective wisdom of this board... what is this?

I have a non-start issue now (fuel pump runs, have full battery, lights on dash come on) she won't try to turn over.

This car has been converted to carbs and still uses points.

She shook pretty dramatically while idling (motor mounts are up for replacement).
Perhaps this fell off?

thanks in advance.

Yep.

Which explains the overspray. I replaced a headlight housing and this was a left over part that must have fallen under the car.

Bummer as that obviously has nothing to do with my no start issue.

Thanks!

Could be. If you didn't top up the headlight fluid the car wont start...for safety reasons.

Check your grounds.

Rear trans to body
Battery to body
Relay board to body
Dash to body
Headlights to body
and one more I cant remember

When you are drawing enough amps to start the car it needs a complete circuit.

Thanks... I needed the laugh about the headlight (and blinker) fluid.

It's the "bearing" part that slides into the bar at the back. It's part of the whole assembly.
