Changed both front rotors and both sets of front brake pads recently. I used the Bosch website to determine which pads to install on my 1976 car. I installed Bosch QuietCast Premium pads, model no. BP31, meant for the late 914. The set of pads came with new hardware. Each pad came with an anti-squeal shim installed. The pads I removed did not have the anti-squeal shims.

When I was buttoning things up I noticed there was some drag on both rotors. It looks like the tab on the anti-squeal shim is interfering with the spreader spring operation. The spreader spring pushes the shim tab back aways but it does not push the brake pad far enough back to lift it all the way off the rotor.

Anyone else run into this problem? Should I bed the pads in and recheck things? Should I cut the anti-squeal plates off? Other ideas?

Thanks in advance!
