Thanks for all your responses. I hope to have my carbureted 2.7 911 engine ready for installation this week and will then consider this matter further. Options clearly are limited (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) I am curious what your opinion will be. I was happy with all the stock gears with my 2.7, Weber's and same headers. It wasn't until I went to the 3.2, that I noticed that 1st was worthless, etc. |

Don't forget that part of the cooling on an air cooled engine is fan speed. You want to run the RPM's up a little higher. specially on hills or hotter days. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) Six or T4 you should always be doing 3000rpm or more. Never lug an air cooled engine, really an air/oil cooled engine, as they are highly dependent on airflow both from the fan and through the cooler. That's why for me a HA gear (.624 ratio when flipped for 5th ) is a better choice than the H (.594) for highway driving in 5th with stock OD tires. |
