Hi everyone! So I started an account here to help my father rebuild his '75 914 1.8. Basically I am working on this car as a summer project in the weekends and maybe a weekday here and there if I have the time. This 914 has been garage kept for 20 years (1997) and as a 20 year anniversary it would be nice to resurrect this little guy. Here are some photos of the first day taking it out followed by washing, vacuuming, removing some exterior and flushing the fluids: Attached thumbnail(s) |

Tried to search the forums and Haynes and got some info. but still need some answers. I need some advice or some 1.8 l-jet owners or knowledgeable enthusiasts to look at my work before I place an order. Long story short several vacuum lines are routed wrong , there is no charcoal can, and cannot find spark plug wire order.
1) What are the negative effects of having a no charcoal can? Fuel consumption? I hear the l-jets are sensitive to hose leaks so can I plug those that are attached to the can? 2) Spark plug wire order. I want to double check if they are routed correctly. Attached thumbnail(s) |
