Hi everyone! So I started an account here to help my father rebuild his '75 914 1.8. Basically I am working on this car as a summer project in the weekends and maybe a weekday here and there if I have the time. This 914 has been garage kept for 20 years (1997) and as a 20 year anniversary it would be nice to resurrect this little guy. Here are some photos of the first day taking it out followed by washing, vacuuming, removing some exterior and flushing the fluids: Attached thumbnail(s) |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/welcome.png) ... to both you & your Dad!
As others have said - it's probably a 1975 built in 74 (the model years overlap calendar years Aug to July). Look at your VIN sticker &/or plates & if the VIN starts with 475... then it's a 1975 MY, 474... = 74 MY, 476... = 76, etc. Make sure to check & change all soft lines as needed before any driving it. Here's a goal for you & your Dad to shoot for together - LA Porsche Club has a Show at the Santa Monica Airport Museum of Flying on 9/10, where you can park in the Porsche display "Corral" out front of the museum for free & check out coll "Porsches & Planes"! https://www.motorsportreg.com/events/pca-la...-angeles-932761 There are a bunch of other SoCal events & drives all year long, if you two want other Father-Son Fun alternatives & activities at the calendar link below. You can both join PCA for $46/yr & get a great Panorama magazine + the local LA one to boot - worth the price alone - aside from all the events. http://www.zone8.org/calendar.php Have Good Luck!
