I not only like the look of this mod but adds simplicity to gas fill ups the only negative from my perspective is now gas entry is not protected?

so any one have measurements and close up pics? I am assuming that it is more than just a hole. also probably a ring is welded on hood so as to give a relief even added seal? I think Patrick motorsports has pics in their gallery?

If you're a friend of Eric Shea on Facebook, he outlines a pretty detailed GT build with his car...

And it looks amazing!

How much do you have to spend ? its a skilled install and the parts are up there,if you aren't building a GT really not worth the cost or having a leaking hood if not done right.

This is my car. It's a pretty faithful GT replica and I'm not doing the through-the-hood fueling. I can afford the parts, I just don't want a hole in my hood. I may change my mind. The GT's were pretty much all individual builds so there is a variety of configurations.

Used to be cool to pull into a full serve and let the kid walk around the car a couple times looking for the gas flap. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Hi guys

As I wrote in my for sale tread of the Hood pin kit

http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=308364

We are working ( in final production ) on a "plug and play kit" with no welding requiered

I did the kit , most dealers sell like SMC, restoration design etc a good 5 years ago
http://www.sierramadrecollection.com/911-R...Kit-p25309.html

The kit will have the same Blau 110 mm cap and 5 hole fin

it will have the "dog bowl" overfill etc in basic all you need will be in the kit

To give you a idea how it works , you simply just screw it on ,
the kneck will have the correct angle to the hood and will line up at the same height

I cant show you all the secrets right now (IMG:style_emoticons/default/WTF.gif) but you will like it for sure (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I will soon make a for sale tread ,we are just in final production packing these
,and we will be shipping these in august for sure , so dont spend all your cash on your girlfriend in the hollydays :-) priced ca at 350 EURO

Marek

Went to a salvage yard and had them cut out the filler door section on a 99 Ford Pickup. Trimmed the sheet metal and cut a hole in the hood to match. Stitch welded the opening in the hood for a flush mount.Attached Image Attached Image

If your gonna go thru all the trouble then shouldn't you just do it
Like this , forget the hood , should come thru the fender

I did not do it partly because I would forever be splashing and spilling fuel on the hood. Also there's gotta be some small detrimental aero impact.

They do look cool though.

I see the Summit Racing unit is locking. Have others made their fuel doors locking?

My yellow car, Speedy was not a great car so drilling the hood wasn't a big deal. I will not drill the hood on my black car. The only way I'll do a through the hood gas filler is on a fiberglass replacement hood. Same goes for hood pins, or rear trunk black rubber catches.

ONLY fiberglass.

Hoods are dirt cheap in Cali. Agreed as to fiberglasss hood and trunk being the way to drop 14.2 pounds fast.
