That's definitely an after market piece, they didn't come with an angled face from the factory.

My car had dealer A/C installed but the gauge face plate was flat. I've purchased a few consoles that were the cut-down type for A/C cars and never seen one with the angled face plate (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

The VPC units with a center console use the staggered gauge panel. That angled gauge panel on eBay has been listed there for a very long time. The dealer in Connecticut that originally sold my Can Am LE (with VPC A/C) must have been out of them because they merely cut down a standard panel...poorly. I've since sourced the staggered panel which is simply a very thin and flimsy leather-look plastic. The angled ones are much nicer. |

That makes sense - thanks for the clarification. My car did have A/C installed but it was not in the car when I bought it but I can now assume it was DPD type. |

I never knew there was a top piece. Mine came with a homemade wood block wrapped in vinyl. Thanks! |

Here's the top for that face. http://www.ebay.com/itm/NICE-ORIGINAL-GENU...%3D361938382708 [/quote] No top piece is required and there would be no room for it if a DPD A/C unit is still in place. I'm not sure what that is...maybe trim for the 914-6 style cubby. Page 65 of Dr. B Johnson's 914 and 914-6 A Restorer's Guide to Authenticity pictures both configurations |
