You've never added your opinion on someone's F/S thread, Mike? Don't be hypocritical, OK? Case in point: http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?sho...p;#entry2501105 Sorry this is so confusing for you to follow. My opinion on that thread was regarding current market prices for original Mahles like the seller had for sale. Your posts are comparing cheaply "Made in China" Hirschmann reproduction antennas to NOS original Hirschmann antenna prices. So if you have Woody's antennas on your cars they are the China made ones you can get for $25. |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) The seller sells VERY nice original parts from Europe on the 911 forums all the time.
With a reaction like that, I doubt he will sell here anytime again soon. |

So if you have Woody's antennas on your cars they are the China made ones you can get for $25. I'm not confused at all. Posting your opinion about current market prices? ... please. You were still posting YOUR opinion that Greg's asking price was too much. It doesn't matter what the product is/was, what you did is fundamentally no different than what I did. I think everybody realizes that 'market prices' are whatever one is willing to pay, so your rebuttal regarding Greg's wheels doesn't really hold water. (Take your time and think it through again) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) I said good luck with the sale at least twice ... if that's not enough for you guys, so be it. Feel free to pay through the nose for those precious NOS parts. Me? ... I'll bide my time and search for a better deal if I actually needed something like that. I'll bet most folks on this forum (as well as others) would do the same, but yes, I understand that there are other folks would give their eye teeth to own those kind of parts. I'm done here - have an ice day. |

That's also a chinese reproduction, it have 5 masts, Originals have a 3-mast Just want to ask the experts to educate some of us who "don't know much about Hirschmann antennas". From doing some research on the subject, Enoz05 was in the same learning mode a year ago (enlightening reads on the subject on the 911 Registry forum). My 911 (German delivery with factory installed Blaupunkt Frankfurt radio, lautsprecher and antenne) is in storage so I can't verify right now, but my '66 912 has a Hirschmann with the black mast, 5 sections, black tip and gray quiver. I've owned the car since '88 and I bought it from the original owner. Were they made in China that long ago? Did they also make 4-section mast antennas, as shown in the diagram that accompanies the 40 year old one? (I don't have the original documentation that came with mine). Again, just trying to understand the differences ... am I going to get gigged for the 5-section mast when I drive it onto the grass? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) |

I'm far from being an expert, but I am pretty certain that back in the sixties the masts were all stainless, not black. I don't think black masts started showing up until the mid-70s. So I suspect yours may have been replaced at some point, Mark. |

The original Blaupunkt in the '66 was replaced by the OO with a 70s era Pioneer cassette deck at some point , so that's very possible. Thank you Arne.
I'll have to dig out the 1" thick stack of documents that came with the car. Luckily, I do have a Frankfurt for it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) My apologies to the OP ... |

Not to reignite the debate, however I recently purchased a replacement antenna on Ebay for $23.00 as per the below picture.
It is a Hirschmann and definitely not a NOS product from the 1970's, but merely a modern day version and replacement model. The mast is indeed 3 stages and not in black. Just wanted to clarify with a photo to illustrate the differences. Rock On! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif) |

The placement diagram is interesting. Obviously, dealer installers tended to put them wherever they saw fit. More than a few placed on the pass side. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) The WETMWB rule applies.

While it is not a 914, nor a 911, the aftermarket antennae from Dry Clean USA on my Thing/181 is of great quality and stands up to the elements... Plus it was included free with my purchase!
I have found that the 5 twist base allows better reception and stability than the 4 twist base. Carry on. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol-2.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/av-943.gif) |
