Just got a call from Dan Root. He just got home with the new car. He had said he needed to be home by 8 AM and he has 20 minutes to spare. He said it developed an oil leak about an hour into the trip, most likely push rod tubes but made it with no problems other than that. Now I need to box up some parts he and I forgot to grab and send them up there. Pretty good test of a car to just get in and drive 1300 miles. Glad you made it Dan. Send me your address and I will box this stuff up and ship it off to you.

He didnt even test drive the car, he loaded up and just got in and went. Everyone seemed to like him, he fits right in with the Club. Here is a picture of everyone at the house when he was loading up to go.

I think he said the odds were 30:1 and my bet was 20, so that would be $600.00. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif)

Nope, didnt clean them. The car had not been washed since before the WCC. It didnt look bad though. As for the 6, he said he wont be converting it till this fall, so he will be driving it around all summer maybe with the little 2 liter engine in it.

Yep, the 914 made it home just fine. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif) It was nice to meet everyone(With the exception of Z's hairy ass) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/icon8.gif) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/bootyshake.gif)

I will post a couple of pictures of the drive up in a few.

1300 miles, 16 hours of non-stop running. I do have to admit, I am not a big 4cyl guy, but damn, those little engines just go and go....and get friggen awesome mileage too! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/driving.gif) I didn't ever push it over 4k rpm's on the trip. I am not into trashing an engine. Temp always was right and the car ran like a sewing machine. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/driving.gif)

I only have a couple of pictures from the trip, but this one is us arriving at John Wayne Air Port 2 hours and 40 minutes late. We left at 9:25AM instead of 7AM because of "Mechanical problems". (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/unsure.gif)

My wife at 11:45AM just after calling Scott to come pick us up. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smile.gif)

You can see oil on the ground under the 914 in the last picture. That was just after parking it too. I checked and it does look like the tube seals are leaking. Easy fix. When we got back from the store, we saw this! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/boldblue.gif) (not the open door, the other 914).

Guy's name was Al, very nice older man. We talked 914's for a bit and then headed off. His was a 4cyl car used for A-x'in. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/driving.gif)

That's it. Now to Rootize this thing. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/happy11.gif)

It was really great to meet everyone that hung out at Scotts and both my wife and I are really sorry to have missed the breakfast. There were many others I really wanted to meet. Everyone was so nice and full of laugh's.

Good question, maybe he is trying to be like the guy from that show that never shows his face. Tim the tool man Taylor guy. I forget his name. Here is one so you can stop your wondering. Him and Joe Sharp. Joe is the one with the shiny head.
