For years I've thought about hosting a get together at my place.

My shop is adequate for a tech session.

The biggest problem is accommodations, we have a couple of motels here but I haven't checked them out in years.

I have a place that could work for a BYO gathering place.

Time frame is very open, but would be cool weather (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Cool...I have friends in Memphis that I have not seen in years. How far are you from there?

I'd be interested, but as it is too far to push mine I'd be driving my BMW.

Oddly enough, I may be depending on when & my travel schedule then, since our daughter & family are relocating to Jackson Tn, where our son-in-law is the new GM at the Doubletree there.

Where in W-TN are you Perry?

PS - I just saw your shop name in your sig - Duh! So if you're also in/near Iron Hill, then you're between them & a nephew in Clarksville (Capt @ Ft. Campbell) but I think he's deploying in Sept.

Geez - what are the chances!? 2 sets of Millenial kids in towns with great 60's-70's song roots: "Goin' to Jackson" by Johnny Cash & June Carter, "Last Train to Clarksville" by the Monkeys.

I am halfway between Memphis and Nashville, in Parsons TN.

Oscar, you could do the I40 boogie, and just turn right at exit ##126 in TN and go about 15 miles (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Where are you in TN JT?

Tom, Jackson is where we go for Lowe's, Kroger, Sam's Club, etc. My kids take music lessons at a college there as well. If your daughter is used to a big city, there will be culture shock, but cost of living is much lower and there's no state income tax.

Perry,

Her hubby is in hotel management, so has moved around since they got married, 2011 to Ahseville NC, then 2014 to Charlottesville VA, & now to Jackson TN - so they've been "decompressing" from San Diego & Orange County here in SoCal. She grew up in OC then went to college in San Diego & lived there a few years after, he grew up in San Diego/Coronado/El Cajon - so it was big city-ish.

She also grew up with annual trips to visit family in Little Rock, Indy surrounds, plus Tahlequah & Sallisaw OK for our Cherokee ceremonies & events, so she's liked living in the old Cherokee Country in NC & VA, but she'll be in the W. TN Chickasaw homelands area now, but still close to Cherokee country.

They moved because they wanted to get away from the mayhem, & actually spent their honeymoon in Nov. 2010 looking at TX, TN, VA, NC, SC & GA as alternative places.

I don't know if Jackson will be too much culture shock, but Memphis & Nashville are close enough to escape "island fever" if needed. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

They hadn't found a reasonably priced home to buy in Charlottesville (almost SoCal prices there) & rented a house instead, so they're looking forward to buying again.

Anyhoo, it sounds like I can drive over to your place for the gathering, if the timing works out with my schedule, which I don't know yet. I have to go to Chicago & Tulsa/Sallisaw & maybe some other stops that biz trip.

PS - I'd probably be driving some rental minivan so there's room for me, wife, them & Grandson - but doubt that they'd all want to come to a car thing anyway.

Got a kid going to school in Clarksville... Might combine trips. Have to drive over much of the bourbon trail to get there, but it is a hardship I am prepared to endure.

We could incorporate a jam, if there's enough interest. I've everything set up, guitars, bass, drums, keys just hit the switch and rock out.

BTW, if any of you are around before this all happens, please come by. The music room is also a guest house.

My car has been running so well since my big ass back-fire repair this spring, (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving-girl.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving-girl.gif) I have not taken time to login.

So it has been about a month since this thread started. Any offline work going on?

Helen Ga is not that far from Memphis. I heard there are 60-some 914s registered for next month. We could have a Winter get-to-gether in Memphis.

What has transpired?

Hey guys. After looking at the calendar I've decided to put it off until the spring. I just can't swing it this fall.

We'll do early spring, after the threat of snow and ice has passed and before it gets too hot. Stay tuned and I'll work up details.

Hey Perry,

Actually I have a conference in NYC May 1-3 & will probably visit our kiddos in Jackson TN before that, so maybe your dates will work out for me too!? Please keep me posted.

If not, maybe we can still meet up for a meal or coffee somewhere between you & Jackson when I'm back there.

Also, it looks like we'll be coming to Jackson in October either before or after my Chicago Conference Oct. 10-12, so we could get together then too, & I can hear about the "Helen Invasion"! .... "Hell-on Wheels"!? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Enjoy your Octeenerfest in Helen GA! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)

Cheers! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

The welcome mat is always out for anyone coming through this way, the music studio doubles as a guest house. Tom, be sure to keep me posted on your travel plans, it wouldn't be a problem to pop over to Jackson to meet up with you. It's an easy hour, so if you wanted to check out my place I'll round trip it twice.
