Wife likes the red Eurovan. And we found (and lost) a place that sells an exterior lift. It tucks neatly below the door, under the van.

We need someone to see if its in decent shape. Only 3 days left, and the holiday prolly won't make it any easier. But, if someone could help...

Eurovan

Thanks (again) for everyone's help.

Dave,

I might be able to look at it, but it would be Saturday at the earliest. I would assume that they are closed on Friday.

I am not sure what to look for other than the obvious things. I do not know these vans well. I could vouch for general condition, tires, brakes (if they'll pull a wheel) and how it drives. I might not be much help after that.

If you are serious, get their address and phone number and find out when I could see it Saturday AM. I am about 40 minutes from Mailbu. Being Independence Day weekend, traffic will be rough on PCH. Early, like 7:00 AM would be best.

Let me know.

This red one does look nice.

But I still want the Ziggy Marley Rasta Van. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smoke.gif)

Hey Dave - Did you get your new chair yet? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_rolli_1.gif)
(Wow that's pretty cool. This smilie's title has your name on it in the HTML code)

Joe,

I emailed the seller. I looked over the feedback, and it is mostly all good. I think its safe to say the van is in decent condition.

If they're open Sat. and its not a PITA for you, maybe you could just make sure. BUT, I really need to get a hold of Brad BEFORE we do anything.

Anyone know how to reach the a-hole? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Dave,
they are racing tonite, and have to pack the truck and trailer and be out by 9am. So, it's gonna be a long nite.
After that, I'm not sure what his plans are, but I know he only carries 1 cell phone battery, so it's never charged.

Speaking of needing to talk with Brad...if you see him, remind him to call Britain to let me know when to pick him up from the airport tomorrow.

I am in L.A. also though I don't know much about these vans, I could look at it and tell you if it's a shiny POS or not. I e-mailed the seller and asked for an address, phone number and when he was available on Sat. I'll let you know if I hear back from him. If the door handle falls off in my hand, that would be bad, right? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)

Dave,

Its not too far. I thought it was in Malibu, but it is in Santa Monica, which is a 10 minute ride for me. What time do they open?

I'll be sure to check the door handles and bring my digital camera.

I have a buddy who just joined this board (Mikester) that lives in Santa Monica. Maybe I'll see if he can come along.

Let me know if you want me to take a look.

Dave,

I just talked to Lisa. I will call her Saturday and see if I can go see it in the AM. If I hadn't already had two martinis, I would have driven up there now.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer3.gif)

If there is anyone else closer, maybe they could see it tonight.

Let me know if you get other feedback.

Shoot...the one day I didn't check the board at lunchtime and I coulda helped with this. That location is barely a mile from my office.

I won't be back down that way until Monday, but lemme know if any follow-up needs to be done next week. Good luck.

Hi Dave, when I was out checking vans & lifts for you at the beginning I went to a place called Performance Mobility. It does custom work specifically for chair access in whatever vehicle you want. Charlie, the owner & founder of the company is also in a chair so he really knows peoples needs. While talking to him he showed me one of these types of lifts. There are 2 kinds if memory serves. One of them had to do with a chain drive and he mentioned having problems with them if something (I can't remember) wasn't done right. Give Charlie a call and ask him about it. He is a straight person and wouldn't steer ya wrong. Here's the address & phone number.
4347 NW Yeon Avenue Portland, Oregon 97210. Portland Area: (503) 243-2940 .
He did a wheelchair lift for my late wife.
