Unless you send -friends and family, they (PP) charge a fee as a seller. No fee as a buyer.
Doesn't matter how the buyer funds the purchase. |

My experience is they always charge someone a fee. If it's sent friends and family then the sender gets charged otherwise the person receiving gets charged. Either way they are getting paid.

Friends and family has zero buyer protection. Scammers will ask for it, use with caution.

Friends and family has zero buyer protection. Scammers will ask for it, use with caution. True. But no fee for either party. Attached thumbnail(s) |

As mentioned above, the person sending the money pays the fee with this option

True, in PayPal. the seller is charged something like 3% for a regular sale. But the friend and family option is free to both party. . The qualifier is 'it's a done deal and no buyer protection to void transaction, I understand the comment about 'scammers use this' but not necessarily true. . perfectly legit for 'friend and family' When I sell [other than EBay which has it's hooks into you already] and someone insists on using regular Paypal, I just add 3% to the sales price if they want that option. . If you use friends and family enough they will flag your account.

The key here is no fee for F&F when coming from Paypal balance or direct from bank account.
If coming from a credit card there is still a fee. |

The key here is no fee for F&F when coming from Paypal balance or direct from bank account. If coming from a credit card there is still a fee. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) I didn't know that but I only have a "special" bank acct tied into PayPal. I had an incident where a buyer tried to chargeback some Fuchs he purchased from me because they were going to cost more to restore than he expected. He claimed to PayPal that they were "defective". PayPal took the money from my checking account and gave it back to him. I challenged the decision and they gave me my money back. Since then, I have it all sent to a separate acct and remove large sums quickly. I sold a 964 trans for $5k to an overseas buyer. The transaction went fine. I still removed the money from my special acct rather quickly in case they here was an issue. If I have to fight PP, I'd rather do it with the money in my pocket than theirs. Like any bank, their terms of service are going to protect them, not the consumer. |
