Marty, do you remember a guy named Bob Bangeliste (AKA 'Biker Bob'). Back in the 70's we raced his modified sedan in the slaloms at the Bug-Ins.

I ran a few Bug-In slaloms back in the early 70s, in the stock class with my 67 bug. 1600 dual port with Pict-4 carb, Konis, Empi sway bars, and lowered. Used to go to an event call Sports Car Olympics up in Squaw Valley and Boreal Ridge. Ran a few local autocrosses too. Fun car. I sold it when I bought the 914.

Don't recall Biker Bob (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) ...we had our tent set up in the Mfgs. Midway and I didn't get out of the booth much except for the engine pull / install contests and the fastest 1/4 mile run of the day. I do recall Bob McLure of BAE turbo systems that ran an alcohol/ injected turbo bug. He was THE showman with TToD sub 10 second 1/4 mile (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) T1 Scat engine too...I'm sure you recall the BAE bug ! |

... and Iguana, Inch Pincher, Lightning Bug, etc ..
Bob worked at (and was sponsored by Royze) in Inglewood, right around the corner from Tom Lieb's shop (before he moved down to Torrance). |
