I'd like them to be in good condition. Doesn't need to have all valve gear show me what you have.

Thanks guys, I may have to move this thread over to the garage but I have a few questions for the crowd.
1) can I repair the head I have? The spark plug popped out of the hole and sheared off the threads in the process. I tried to drill new threads and use an insert but my drill locked up on the way out and now I think I have also stripped the threads I recut. I have contacted a local machine shop that works primarily on VW heads. They said they would likely be able to fix the head I have. Is this a viable option? If not; 2)can I replace just one head? 3)If I can do this, what should I be looking for in a usable head? So far I have just wanted to see all valve gear, no cracks and all threads intact. Should I be worried about installing a bad head, or weak or one with worn valves stem or tips? Thanks |
