so this is a 1971 orange factory paint radio etc. targa top. only mod is 3 point seat belt and exhaust.
its been in second owners possession for over 30 years. she has had it stored in her garage has not ran or even tried to start in 15 years. The body is in solid shape no rust we are discussing a price around 2500 but the great thing is she wants me to work it off on my lawn care as I have a lawn care business. What are your thoughts? What should I be concerned about when it comes to getting it road worthy? Dave Attached thumbnail(s) |

Congrats!
Now that it's in the daylight you can start to find the rust. The fuel system will be you 1st task. I took out the tank, plumbed a tank out of a coffee can, and direct wired the fuel pump off a battery jump box (easy for me, as my pump had been relocated to the front). This let fuel circulate through the system. I did this over several days, changing to fresh gas fairly often. There was a lot of crap that came out, even with the fuel filer in place. This worked for me, as it started right up after (still running off the coffee can). Rough at 1st, one injector took a while to wake up. Keep us posted! |
