Ordered a rear trunk patch panel and two jack post plates online. A couple days later I received a call confirming the order. Ten days later I had the parts. They make very nice pieces. The downside is they are tough to get ahold of.
Verruckt Just Keep trying. Sooner or later Bill picks up the phone.

I pick a day and call every 30-60 minutes or so until Bill (pretty much a one man show) answers the phone. If that doesn't work (almost always does) I start up again the next day. Hasn't failed me yet. Once you reach Bill and order parts, there is never an issue. He just can't seem to answer phone every time it rings.

Same thing here, I just placed an online order and got a phone call from Bill a couple days later. They were late on shipping so he advised me it would take a bit of time to get the parts. Great stuff.

I hope this means that restoration design is getting back on track! Their parts are good and cheap, but I will not try to order from them again until I know I am going to get a reply.

I am reserving judgement for the time being.

I ordered parts two and half weeks ago.

Bill called to say he rec'd my web order the day after. He stated the parts we in stock and they would ship the next day. He even said MI to OH should be 2 day shipping.

A week goes by nothing. I call him, he says he'll call me back. Two days go by, nothing.

I call him back, he says he will check and call me back (again). This time he does. He states one of his guys screwed up and put my order with the next production run instead of shipping the part in stock. He will ship it right away. That was last Friday.

Today is Thursday.... still no parts.

I am a patient person.... I don't like to bash..... I am used to better service (ie Moss Motors). BUT...... I'm starting to get pissed (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/mad.gif)

Oh and FWIW... I ordered a part from Tweeks the same day. It arrived two days later.

I just noticed that Pelican is out of sheet metal parts. Did they drop Restoration Design as their supplier?

This thread is helpful to me. I web ordered (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/type.gif) a battery tray and support 3 weeks ago and got no call. So I called and called and did not get through. Sent a second web order assuming the first went into cyber space and now I am waiting (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/headbang.gif)
At least I know that my situation is not unique. If Bill wants to run a business he needs some help in the order receiving and shipping end. This is all I need to get back on the road and I would rather give some business to a small compancy like Restoration Design. And did I mention his prices are awsome. I had to update this thread with my results.

I finally received my parts yesterday (6-2-05).

This is almost five weeks from the time I ordered them (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/mad.gif)

The only way I got them was to call and call and call and call. After the last "promise" to ship them right away (see comments above) I waited another week.... still no parts. I called again. No answer several times. I left messages, I faxed him a note. Finally I get ahold of him. This is the conversation.

Me : Bill are you ever going to ship my parts?

Bill: Let me check on your order (same thing he said in every call).

Bill: Oh, we've kept you waiting quite a while on this.

He then procedes to tell me about the trouble he is having with his landlord etc. I am thinking fine.... BUT DON"T TELL ME THREE TIMES THAT YOU ARE GOING TO SHIP MY PARTS IF YOUR NOT.

I feel for the guy, he seems genuinely nice. BUT SHIT don't tell me you will do something and don't. If he would have said in the first conversation "OK that order will be ready in four weeks" I would have said "fine, I'll expect them in about a month".

The last conversation was last Friday (pre holiday weekend). He says he'll ship my parts next days air on Friday, do I want them for Sat delivery? No I said I will not be here this weekend, going out of town, Tuesday will be fine.

Tuesday comes.... no parts. Now I'm F'ing pissed (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/ar15.gif) No time Wed morning to call. Wife calls me in the afternoon. "Bill called from Restoration Design he is sending your parts out today". YEAH F'IN RIGHT I said. I believe it when I see it. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/dry.gif)

Amazingly enough they did come yesterday. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/ohmy.gif)

It is really too bad, they are very nice parts, real quality work. He just needs to know how to follow through and when not to make promises. I know I've said it a million times but I got spoiled in dealing with a quality outfit like Moss Motors for all my MG parts.

I don't think I will be likely to buy parts from RD again, not directly anyway.

It's sad that Bill doesn't realize the situation from our end. While normally I have no patience, my 1st experience I really felt like someone was F....@#+ with me. Since then I know the situation and deal with it. Is it a pain in the ass? Yes, but Bill seems like a good guy and he turns out the BEST products at very, very, good prices. I would rather get irritated with him vs. receiving some of the junk I've gotten through people that ship the next minute.
